A Hanalei institution that has served shave ice out of an old bus at the entrance to town since 1983. It offers both organic and traditional shave ice, plus açaí bowls, smoothies and coffee made with locally sourced ingredients where possible.
Why we love it
Organic, house-made fruit syrups on fluffy ice, eaten with the Hanalei mountains in view. It’s the right end to a North Shore beach day.
What to expect
Look for the old bus at the entrance to Hanalei town, then take your cup to the beach at Black Pot, a few minutes away. You choose between traditional shave ice and the organic line, made with house-made syrups meant to taste like real fruit, and macadamia nut ice cream underneath is a favorite upgrade with regulars. Açaí bowls, smoothies and coffee make it a morning stop too. Days and hours have varied between listings, so check before a special trip.
