Our story
About Hawaii Best
Hawaii Best is an independent, island-by-island travel guide to Hawaiʻi. We started with the Big Island — the youngest, largest, and most misunderstood of the islands — and we’re building Maui, Oʻahu, and Kauaʻi next, one carefully checked guide at a time.
How we choose
For tours, we compare every Viator listing for an experience on itinerary, group size, reviews, cancellation terms, and price, then recommend the ones we’d book for different kinds of travelers. Ratings, review counts, and prices on our pages come straight from Viator and are dated; we never round them up or invent them.
For beaches, parks, and food spots, we verify the basics — location, access, fees, and whether a place is still open — against official sources such as the National Park Service and the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources. Hours and fees change, so we always link you to the official source.
Respect for the place
Hawaiʻi is a home before it’s a destination. Our guides point out where to give wildlife space, which places are sacred, and how to visit in a way that leaves the islands better for the people who live here. We spell Hawaiian place names with the ʻokina and kahakō in our writing, and use the everyday spellings people search for in page titles.
How we make money
When you book a tour through Viator or a hotel or car through Booking.com using our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. No business pays to be listed or ranked. Read our affiliate disclosure for the details.
