An 80-foot waterfall that drops right beside the highway between Hāna town and Kīpahulu. You can see it from the road, which makes it one of the easiest big waterfalls on Maui to enjoy.
Why we love it
No hike required: on the way to Kīpahulu, it’s a tall, ribbon-like fall framed by greenery, right there by the road.
Current conditions: HDOT urged people to avoid nonessential Hāna Highway travel during Hurricane Nolo in late September 2026. Check HDOT road alerts before driving past Hāna.
What to expect
Past Hāna town the road becomes Highway 31, and the falls appear on the mountain side just beyond mile marker 45. Parking is a small lot on the ocean side, just past the falls, so cross the road carefully; traffic is steady and the pavement is often wet. A short path leads toward the base, but it can be slick and tricky. Most people spend 10 to 20 minutes. Pair it with the Pīpīwai Trail, a few miles farther along. After heavy rain the falls run fuller but stay out of the water.
